  • In April 2024, Hitachi Energy and SP Energy Networks have finalized a deal to increase the transfer of renewable energy from Scotland to England. Hitachi Energy will provide a power quality solution designed to support the movement of about 280 MW of renewable energy capacity across the border. The project, based at the Eccles substation operated by SP Energy Networks near the Scottish border, will include two sets of Hitachi's SVC Light Statcom technology and a synchronous condenser. These will be centrally controlled by Hitachi's MACH system and connected at a common electrical node.
