The rising growth in the production of uninterruptible power systems (UPS) is expected to fuel the demand for super junction MOSFETs by focusing on efficiency improvement, power density enhancement, reliability, and compatibility with energy storage system integration. For instance, in June 2023, Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation introduced a new series of N-channel power MOSFETs. The first product in the 600V DTMOSVI series is the TK055U60Z1, which is based on Toshiba’s latest-generation process with a super junction structure. Target applications include high efficiency switching power supplies in data centers, power conditioners for photovoltaic generators, and uninterruptible power systems.
The automotive sector is experiencing growth propelled by trends favoring power designs that prioritize minimizing conduction losses, optimizing thermal behavior, and achieving compact and lightweight systems in a cost-effective manner. With the environment concerns, organizations are developing solar energy systems to cater to the needs of the market. For instance, in July 2023, Infineon Technologies AG expanded its CoolMOS S7 family of high-voltage super junction MOSFETs. The devices are aimed at SMPS, solar energy systems, battery protection, solid-state relays (SSR), motor-starters and solid-state circuit breakers, as well as PLCs, lighting control, HV eFuse/eDisconnect, (H)EV on-board chargers.
