• Gender dysphoria, characterized by a deep discomfort and distress due to a mismatch between an individual's gender identity and their assigned sex at birth, has gained more recognition and understanding in recent years. This heightened awareness has led to more individuals seeking medical and psychological support, including SRS, to align their physical appearance with their gender identity. As a result, there has been a marked increase in the number of people opting for sex reassignment procedures, thus driving demand in the SRS market.
   
• For instance, the prevalence of gender dysphoria appears to be increasing, especially among young people. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5), the prevalence of gender dysphoria is 0.005-0.014% for those assigned male at birth and 0.002-0.003% for those assigned female at birth.
