There is a rapid evolution in the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor segment. The sensors are increasingly being integrated with advanced Engine Control Units (ECUs) to provide precise data for optimizing fuel injection and ignition timing, thus enhancing overall engine performance and efficiency.
Also, advancements in manufacturing technologies are driving the miniaturization of MAP sensors, making them more cost-effective and easier to integrate into a wider range of vehicle models, including compact and electric vehicles. Manufacturers are also focusing on enhancing the durability and reliability of MAP sensors to withstand harsh environmental conditions, such as extreme temperatures and vibrations, ensuring long-term performance in automotive applications.
The implementation of stringent emission regulations globally is pushing the adoption of high-precision MAP sensors to meet these standards, helping reduce vehicle emissions and improve fuel efficiency. For instance, in April 2024, the Indian government announced to launch of the stringent BS-VII and CAFE-III (Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency) emission norms. The new regulations are in line with Euro 7 emission norms, which will be implemented in Europe from 2025 onwards. The rising enforcement of strict global emission regulations is expected to drive the adoption of MAP sensors.
