The demand for digital classrooms with interactive whiteboards is driven by their ability to enhance engagement, integrate with digital resources, facilitate collaboration, support teacher efficiency, and create inclusive learning environments. As educational institutions continue to prioritize technology-enhanced learning experiences, interactive whiteboards are increasingly gaining traction in the sector. For instance, in November 2023, SMART Technologies launched the SMART Board RX series. This display is designed for accessibility and provides teachers with the tools they need to make learning more engaging for students while saving time. It comes with optically bonded glass and a multi-color stylus for an effortless inking experience, as well as student device integration.
Capacitive touchscreens are becoming increasingly popular in interactive whiteboards due to their superior responsiveness and accuracy. They detect touch input using the electrical properties of the human body, enabling precise and reliable interaction. Capacitive touchscreens support multi-touch gestures, allowing multiple users to interact simultaneously with the whiteboard. This capability enhances collaboration during group activities, presentations, and interactive learning sessions.
For instance, in September 2022, Prowise launched the Touchscreen Ten G2, a secure, interactive Android 11 whiteboard designed for classroom use and security-certified by the German government. The whiteboard includes touch-sensitive glass and ships with four digital pens, which come with pick-up recognition. Users can bind the act of picking up a pen with a system action such as launching an app. The board is Wi-Fi enabled. Display-bonding and nano texture have been engineered to improve palm and object recognition in the touchscreen, and sensors allow broad-spectrum environmental monitoring for temperature, humidity, gas, and dust levels.
