The global HVAC insulation market had a strong revenue in 2024 and is projected to grow at a decent CAGR from 2025 to 2034, driven by increasing construction activity, energy-efficiency laws, and thermal comfort needs specific to residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Buildings utilize one of the largest shares of energy globally (especially for heating and cooling), now there is a substantial emphasis on saving energy and reducing energy loss, as they relate to their HVAC system.

For instance, in January 2025, Panasonic Corporation’s HVAC Company launched the OASYS Residential Central Air Conditioning System in the U.S. The product comprised a Mini Split AC, DC motor-driven transfer fans, and an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV). According to Panasonic, the OASYS Residential Central Air Conditioning System could cut heating and cooling energy use by over 50% compared to traditional setups.  HVAC insulation enables the largest reduction in energy consumption and stabilization of indoor climates, reducing operational costs; and increasing the thermal performance of mechanical systems or duct systems.

In addition, the worldwide push for climate change and carbon footprint initiatives has prompted varieties of better insulative materials that can be utilized in new and existing infrastructure. Climate change is also a catalyst for the continued development of smart buildings and sustainable designs. With increased urbanization and demand for smart buildings and sustainable designs, HVAC insulation solutions are essential to putting significantly less energy into constructing energy-efficient, low-carbon buildings. Glass wool insulation - or fiberglass insulation, is produced from recycled glass and sand (as the active insulation component) and demonstrates unique thermal, and acoustic insulation values. Glass wool is infinitely available, economical, and can be installed easily in, and on, almost anything! As the Department of Energy, Building Performance Institute, and the ASHRAE 90.1 push for thermal efficient standards, the increased adoption and awareness of glass wool insulation will continue its prominence in the HVAC mechanical products in retrofits and new builds.

The commercial segment developed as the largest application area for HVAC insulation in 2024 contributing a sizable share to the overall market. This segment includes office buildings, hospitals, shopping malls, hotels, and educational institutions; each of these sectors has HVAC systems that operate during extensive hours and with numerous occupants, requiring constant thermal maintenance. Improvements in building sustainability and energy efficiency within commercial buildings have also encouraged HVAC insulation projects due to the cost-cutting implications.

As demand for smart energy-certified buildings increases, there is a growing need to integrate superior insulation materials in commercial spaces.
