The inclusion of a new dynamic vision assessment module reflects a rising trend towards more comprehensive and personalized vision assessments. Traditional vision assessments often focus solely on static measures such as visual acuity, but the industry has witnessed an increasing recognition of the importance of assessing dynamic visual skills such as eye movement coordination, tracking, and convergence/divergence abilities. For instance, in January 2021, RightEye LLC announced the launch of its Version 4.0 update to the RightEye Vision System. This update offers three improvements including a new dynamic vision assessment module, an expanded and updated reference population dataset, and a modern dashboard and user interface.
Eye tracking technology is finding applications in healthcare for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation purposes. Eye trackers are used to assess visual impairments, neurological disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and traumatic brain injuries, providing valuable insights into patient behavior, attention, and cognitive function.
For instance, in January 2020, EyeTech Digital Systems, Inc. announced the launch of EyeOn, an all-in-one, ultra-slim eye gaze tablet during the Assistive Technology Industry Association conference in Orlando. The EyeOn eye tracking platform enables people with mobility and motor impairments to select, type, and speak entirely hands-free, using eye movement to control the device that measures just ¾” thick and weighs under 4.5 pounds.
