The growing advancements in bottled water processing catering to the dispensing technologies are reshaping the bottled water market, offering enhanced convenience, customization, and user experience with sustainability criteria ensured. For instance, in May 2022, Amcor introduced an innovation in bottled water with the launch of its No-Label Poly Ethylene Terephthalate (PET) Bottle for Danone in Argentina. This packaging solution represents sustainability and efficiency in the production of bottled water. Crafted entirely from 100% recycled PET (rPET), the 1.5-liter bottle features a carbon footprint 21% leaner than its predecessor. By eliminating traditional labels, the bottle reduces potential contaminants in the recycled resin and boosts yields of recycled PET resin.
Despite the growing awareness of the environmental impacts associated with bottled water processing, including concerns about plastic pollution, depletion of water resources, and carbon emissions related to production and transportation, water bottling facilities are still expanding. For instance, in December 2021, Maithri Aquatech made significant strides in sustainable water management by establishing a groundbreaking packaged water bottling plant in Hyderabad, India. Developed in collaboration with the esteemed Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, the plant represents a pioneering initiative in water conservation and resource utilization.
