The day before, the helicopters handled 50-knot winds, proving their stability and reliability for offshore wind farm operations. For instance, In February 2024, Erickson selected Astronautics to upgrade 12 S-64 air crane helicopters with a glass cockpit, including the Badger Pro+ Gen 2.0 display system, EDCU, and AeroSync connectivity. Astronautics will handle avionics integration and testing. The first phase will provide 12 system shipsets, each with five smart displays, a dual-redundant EDCU, and connectivity. Erickson operates 35 S-64 helicopters globally.
